Remembering a Great Teacher — No Comments

  1. Wow! Now she was a great teacher. I\’d have winced, moaned and groaned in her class and during homework, but wow! What I would have learned along the way. Truly inspiring. And I bet you had a blast, too. The more someone expects from you, the more you give, the more capable you become and grow.

And sentence diagramming! Oh, the horror. But that you had to do the whole Declaration? Wow again. Just studying that first sentence…my mind boggles.

Wonderful, wonderful post and tribute to Mrs. Miller.

  2. For some reason, your post made me cry. Thank you for a lovely tribute to a special teacher.

I, too, learned sentence diagramming. It\’s very helpful, oddly enough, in learning sentence structure and grammar. They don\’t use it anymore (probably because it actually works…).

    Thanks, Liz!

  3. I am not familiar with sentence diagramming. But it looks like an excellent learning tool.
I think you were very fortunate to have had such a truly caring teacher as Mrs. Miller. She obviously made a very in depth impression in your life.

  4. Lovely post, Liz! And, she sounds like an amazing woman!! I vaguely remember sentence diagramming, but I didn\’t have near the experience with it that you did. Sounds like a very valuable lesson, indeed.

  5. That was a wonderful post, Liz and a moving tribute to someone who made a difference in your (and probably many others\’) life. Teachers are so underappreciated – glad to know you have carried something with you this long. Thanks for sharing.
