New Job, New Beginning
I’m so excited! Today I start a new job. It’s interesting the kind of serenity having security can bring. When I was young, I thought I liked change and was comfortable with uncertainty. It’s taken me years to realize that’s not true, and that I perform better in a solid routine.
What kind of routine helps you find peace, the peace to create or the peace to write?
Congratulations! I'm finding that cooking and baking are great therapy.
Congratulations on the new job. And isn't it possible that when you were young change and uncertainty were exactly what you needed? And now you're more mature, you value something different?
Here's to serenity and peace, they are beyond price.
I too function best with routine, a list whose entries I tick off one by one gives me pleasure and a sense of purpose and accomplishment. But lately I've also tried to not beat up my inner child for taking some time to goof off.
Hi, Darla! I wish cooking and baking were therapeutic! I'm glad you find them so. I find them necessary. I sometimes find them therapeutic when I work on them, but it takes a bit of Zen mind to make that happen.
What do you like to bake and cook? Do you have favorites?
Hi, Tess! I think you might be onto something, about how our needs change relative to change itself. I also think that we learn the place of routine as we get older, because we realize their purpose and their value as we both learn to do them, and live without them. At least for me, that's how I learned it.
Ooh, I can't really say I have a favorite right now to bake or cook. It's all good since our kitchen renovation was completed! The latest and greatest endeavor was cherry compote for chicken, pork, or lamb cuts. 🙂
OOOH! May I have the recipe? That sounds yummy!
